If you haven't read the page - "A Fire Discovering Miracle" yet, go ahead now and you will understand why Louis is getting his life back on track.
There is healing happening here, lots of new goals have been set and loads of very positive hope for an active and more optomistic and affirmative future in the life of Louis.
In a couple of weeks Louis and Vee (his Mum) are returning to India to the care of Dr Geeta for a second lot of Stem Cell Treatment. Louis is very excited and can't wait to return for the help of further improvements.
As you will see on the "Fire" page, he is able to walk at least up to 50 meters at one time. Louis still spends most of the time doing his daily living in his chair, but he is out of it for about an hour a day.
Since returning from India, Louis has made a new CD which he has written completey lyrics and music.... due to be released before Christmas. He has set up his "Hired Goons" Record label and soon to expand that to a small liscencing company. Hired Hoons is sponsering the fundraising dinner on October 17th to raise money for a young quadriplegic - Jarrad Anderson and also the plane fares for Perry Cross to return to India for his second lot of treatment.
Dr shroff is giving movement, activity and hope back to (mostly) young people who have had tragic accidents that have almost taken their lives in most cases, and certainly changed their lives to unbearable, crippling circumstances. How lucky we are in this world to have this amazingly intelligent and gentle woman to help these same young folk reclaim some of their happiness and hope back again.
Vee Rowe looks at her tall son walking with his frame with admiration and thanks - he has worked very hard to get to this stage and continues to. There has been pain, anger, laughs and sheer concentration daily, it is a long, slow road, but they are getting there.

Finally we are again updating news on Louis and now thankfully, the news is a little lighter and much happier.
A few things we have tried, we learned by trial and error. One of these was the Hypermed treatment. There was no doubt that the initial hyperbaric sessions alliviated a lot of Louis' pain, but it then seemed to 'plateau out' and although Louis was advised by the Clinic to increase his tank sessions to 4 hours from 2, it then beacame a $480 a day treatment... that is $2,400 a week PLUS the $130 an hour "walk' on the Locomat machine 3 times a week persuaded Louis to have a second look at the Big Picture.
Louis decided that these sessions were not a cure and that his money would be better saved for further new medical procedures down the track. "Down the track" time has now arrived - more on that later.
The China Operation: well it is now 8 months and we will have to concede that it probably was not as successful as we had hoped. Thought that we had done heaps of homework before the operation, but I guess that we simply didn't have enough information and certainly weren't given enough info from the Chinese surgeon when we asked for it, although we didn't know that at the time. One can't regret the "try" because for peace of mind one wants to try anything once and we did think that it would have been more successful.
In September last year Louis was the very blessed and lucky to receive a new car. The car is a Chrysler Cruiser, gifted to Louis by Noelene Watson and her 3 children Emily, Joel and Lyndon, who run Don Watson's Transports in Baccus Marsh. Noelene is the CEO and wont be happy that her name is mentioned here, as she did not want 'recognition' for her gesture, but we have since found out that this family do something wonderful for someone or a charity every year and we are taking the liberty of thanking the family publicly because Louis' new car has given him independence and a new lease of life, and under normal circumstances, Louis would not have had this advantage. Noelene's pretty cool and she insisted on Louis car having mag wheels and a spoiler, so he looks fairly flash while he is out driving.
You probably all know Louis is music-mad for any information on his music please visit his myspace page - http://www.myspace.com/alineoflouis
Now about the "Down the Track". On March 11th Louis is going to India, accompanied by his older brother Sam, to try some stem-cell treatment with Dr Shroff who featured in a 60 Minutes program with Sonya Smith from Brisbane. They will be away for 9 weeks. There was also an article in the Saturday Age 3rd Feb on 2 other Australian women who have benefited from Dr shroff's treatment. Trevor and Vivienne have met Sonya, who is a young Mother of two and will be in India for her 3rd treatment - she had the same complete cut spinal injury as Louis and is now standing with the aid of callipers and slowly walking with aids, but improving daily. Along with the treatment, it has taken Sonya almost 2 years of intense physio exercise and rehab to bring back the muscle and nerve lost over the time being in a chair. Everyone is different and according to age and how long after the original accident, it may take years to be properly active again, with some patients never quite achieving their goals, all medical procedure work differently for different people. Sonya who has been successful with Dr Shroff, plus we are in contact with 2 others who are also experiencing degrees of success.
We just have to be patient and accept that nerve and muscle regrowth are long slow processes.

This update finishes on a much happier and more positive note that we did last year. Louis is doing really well and although he still hates talking about his injury, he has given permission for this to go ahead... but sorry no photos.
Louis and his family send their love to you all and as always always remember your kindnesses.

The Giger Medical Device is now part of the furniture in the house-hold. www.gigermd.com . This is more Swiss designed and built equipment which holds untold benifits for Lou.
Hopefully he can find an hour and a half a day to exercise his hips and legs and in fact, due to the design, his whole body gets a workout. It is interesting that Switzerland is way ahead in design of SCI rehabilitation products, mostly because this country is in the middle of European ski fields and has long dealt with these problems.
Career is very important to Louis and through all of this, he has set some goals and is making plans for a future with his music. This is all still in the pipeline, but very real and you wont have to wait tooooo long to hear a lot more about it.
Thankyou to all you good friends who have never left Louis' side, those families of friends and The Xavier Family who have been there for Lou and his own family during the tuff times. These amazing friendships and support have helped Louis bounce back with gusto, especially after the little "quiet times" which sometimes occur.
This is the 21st CENTURY.
There are so many new treatments, incredible technology developing daily, positive clever scientists racing to be "the first". Paraplegics and Quadraplegics must only be positive and happy about the future. Believe in yourself and have hope.... don't listen to to anyone who says hope is false or holds you back from looking at a wider bigger picture of life.
ALL HOPE IS REAL HOPE. HOPE LEADS TO SETTING GOALS.... GOALS LEAD TO SUCCESS.
IF YOU BELIEVE, YOU CAN ACHIEVE.
