Dr. Shroff’s Technology
Dr. Shroff is an infertility expert and she is the very first individual to develop an infinite number of pure human embryonic stem cell lines from using just one embryo. Her partnering physician and anesthesiologist is Dr. Ashish Verma.
Dr. Shroff’s treatment is ground breaking. Every day we hear about other treatments around the globe regarding stem cells (fetal, umbilical cord, nasal, rats, mice etc.) and Dr. Geeta Shroff has developed the only purely human embryonic stem cell lines that do not show any immune reaction in the body. Embryonic stem cells do not have any antigenic proteins on their surface and thus do not require immunosuppressant drugs. Dr. Shroff’s technology involved the use of just ONE embryo. During her laboratory research she only used surplus embryos from an IVF
donor who underwent a barrage of tests including a complex medical history and genetic history.
Human Embryonic Stem Cell (hESC) therapy is changing the face of modern medicine as we know it. Dr.Geeta Shroff has developed the technology to isolate Human Embryonic Stem Cells, culture them, prepare them for clinical application, and store them in ready-to-use form with a shelf life of six months. Further, this technology is being used clinically to treat patients suffering from various conditions all presently categorized as incurable: spinal cord injury, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, cardiac conditions & many more. Dr. Shroff’s technology involves the use of only ONE EMBRYO. Once the Human Embryonic Stem Cells are isolated, they can be cultured indefinitely. Shroff has isolated the hESC lines from a single spare throwaway embryo after an IVF cycle. The embryo was used with full consent and would have been discarded in any case. Shroff’s technology avoids controversial and ethical issues as there is no repeated need for embryos. Theoretically, one cell line can treat the entire human population.
The unique cell culture methodology makes the hESCs universally acceptable without the need for cross-matching, irrespective of gender, age , or race. No immunosuppressants are needed. There have been no side effects in over five years of therapeutic usage.

The Rowe Family heard of Australia's first paraplegic to go to India and undertake stem-cell treatment from Dr Shroff. By the end of the year,(2007) we managed to 'track' down Sonya Smith and flew to Queensland to have lunch with her and her delightful Mother - Bev.
There was no mistake. Sonya had near the same complete spinal cord injury as Louis and she was (then) walking with small callipers and walking sticks. I know there will be debate about Embryonic Stem Cell Treatment, however, that little, few hours old embryo had not divided yet. No brain, heart, lungs etc had begun to form - in simple terms, it was just a single bland cell 'holding ' stem-cells. It was remaining from an IVF treatment and going to be 'discarded' - In Australia it would be frozen and held indefinately., due to our extremely strict ethical laws. I strongly believe that God gave us permission to visit India, because he preferred to see this cell used to give beautiful young (and older) men and women their lives back and the ability to "put back" into society and help others as a result. Louis left the Talbot Rehab Center in Melbourne unable to stand or feel anything below his waist. They trained him to manage life in a wheel chair and offered no other hope.

He IS ABLE TO SLIGHTLY WRIGGLE THE TOES OF HIS LEFT FOOT.
EVERY DAY HE REGAINS MORE ACTUAL FEELING IN HIS FEET AND LEGS.
BUT ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESSFUL RESULTS IS THAT HE CAN NOW USE HIS BLADDER... HE HAS THAT CONTROL.
